Parents & Athletes Recruiting Information

As we begin another club season, it is time to turn our attention to the recruiting process for our athletes who wish to pursue volleyball at the university level.  For some of our athletes, you will be taking your first steps in the recruiting process this season, for others this season will be your final step toward your college volleyball career.  Wherever you stand in this process, we want you to know that ST7 is here to serve you and your needs in any way that we can.  

 

At this time, we encourage each of our athletes and their family to get informed about the recruiting process and think about the possibilities that lie ahead of you.  Although the recruiting process can be very stressful for an athlete, at ST7 we want to remind our athletes to embrace the situation and look at it as an incredible opportunity to examine your dreams, aspirations, and goals and set a specific plan of action to achieve them.  This can transform a stressful process into an empowering opportunity.  Be goal driven.  Discover what is truly important to you, look inward with the help of your family, and build a map to your final goal and destination.  Do you want to play for the best volleyball program?  Is it more important to play early and/or often in your college career?  Are academics and major offerings more important that the athletic programs? Each athlete must examine and answer these questions themselves.

One of an athlete’s greatest assets in the college recruiting process is their club coach. Coach-Centric Recruiting does not require a large club, proposed networks of college recruiters, or expensive recruiting services.  It requires a coach and director who have an intimate knowledge of an athlete’s abilities, work ethic, leadership, and character; who are willing to work hard for their athlete and support them through their recruiting process. At ST7, our athletes are our family. We build relationships on and off the court, allowing our coaches and director to assist our athletes in the recruiting process with an individualized plan. This season, this plan will include meetings to guide our athletes and parents, 15U - 18U, as they build their SportsRecruit profile and reach out to college coaches. 

 

We at ST7 feel blessed to play a role in this amazing journey with our athletes as they plan for their future. Remember to embrace the process, use your resources, determine your goals, and set a specific plan of action to achieve these goals.  Most importantly, don’t forget to step back every now and then be proud of the athlete and student that you have become.
