Freshman Year

As your first year of high school, this is an exciting and important year for you as a student athlete.  The NCAA classes you as a Prospective Student Athlete.  Although the recruiting process has technically begun the most important focus for an athlete at this level should remain on playing both high school and club volleyball, seeking the best training possible, and maintaining an excellent grade point average in school.  College programs may begin to send information out to you, often sending questionnaires for you to fill out with the goal to place your name and information into their database in order to follow your progress. Programs vary in how they choose to send out information, so do not get caught up in who did or who did not send you information.  Your freshman year is a long way from an actual commitment and things continue to change throughout the recruiting process.  If you are sent questionnaires, it is a good idea to fill them out to the best of your ability and return them to inquiring programs.  Remember beginning the recruiting process can be very exciting, but it is most important at this stage that you continue to train hard and maintain an excellent GPA.
