Tendinitis: is an overuse injury of the knee, especially in sports that include continuous jumping and landing.
Cause: Often as a volleyball player we fall short in taking our time to stretch our muscles, especially the ones we overuse, before a practice or a game. Then we go out and play and after a few landings we begin to feel pain in the top or bottom of the knee cap.
Solution: This symptom indicates the need for a stretching program to lengthen short muscles and an exercise program to tighten weak/loose muscles.
Tip: Stretch before every volleyball activity or training session. Not stretching at all before you exercise leads to your body becoming tight and misaligned. You want to stretch the muscles that are tight. Stretching muscles that are already loose will cause too much loosening in you body. Stretch the muscles that feel the most tight to avoid these situations.
