Coach Sergio Rios is a native from Colombia who has 25 years of experience playing and coaching volleyball. Sergio started his career as a player playing in one of the most successful volleyball programs in Colombia in the region of Valle del Cauca, Colombia. He also represented his home country in different competitions like Olympic qualifiers 2001, South American and Central American Games 1998-2000, Pan-American Games 1999 and many more. After moving to the United States in 2002, Sergio played college volleyball for Warner University in Florida. Over the 4 years of college he earned many awards such as setter of the conference for two consecutive years. He also graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. After his college career finished, he became the head coach of the Warner University Royals volleyball team and built a successful and respectable program. In 2013, Coach Sergio led the Royals for the third time in a row into the Tachikara-NAIA National Invitational Tournament. The team advanced to the semifinals for the second year in a row. 

 

His continued success and dedication led him to become a Pro Volleyball Player for the Florida WAVE Pro Volleyball Team which won the USA Open in Louisville, Kentucky and the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Championship in Reno, Nevada in the summer of 2013. Sergio continues his Volleyball career independently as a Beach Volleyball Pro Player in Florida. He also coaches high performance teams in Florida, directs Nike volleyball summer camps in Boston and Florida, and holds different certifications in Personal Training and USA Volleyball. In 2015, Coach Rios graduated with his Masters in Coaching and Administration from Concordia Irvine University located in California. Moreover, he has work in the fitness industry for different clubs like You fit and Anytime fitness as a trainer. For the past two years, he has coached the beach volleyball program at Club Med Volleyball Academy, the indoor NVL club teams, and helped with the beach volleyball National Volleyball League (NVL) growth and development. Coach Sergio now joins ST7 Volleyball where he will coach both beach and indoor volleyball.
